DataDay 6

Highschoolers! Do you enjoy working with data such as images, graphs, and election polls? Do you like problem-solving or just want to know how to use artificial intelligence? We are hosting our sixth DataDay, where you can experience all of this.

You can look forward to interesting workshops, a lecture on the latest trends in data science, data modeling, interactive creation of intelligent systems, a quiz, pizza, new people, and much more. You can experience all this on February 14, 2026, so don’t miss out! We will be adding the necessary information on an ongoing basis. So keep an eye on this page and our Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.

WHEN AND WHERE?

PROGRAMME

LECTURE

The artificial intelligence in holograms

When communicating through 3D glasses, the difference between an avatar and a hologram lies in the type of data being transmitted. In this lecture, we will show how a hologram of a person can be created, what it looks like, what technical problems it presents, and what kind of data is actually involved.

WORKSHOPS

How does a chatbot understand us?

Peraps everyone is using chatbots and know how they work. But who knows how chatbots understand us? At our workshop, you will try to convert text from human speech into numbers that chatbots can understand.

Am I spending too much time on social media?

What does the data say about our activity on social networks? We will look at this in this workshop, where we will try to analyze the data using Python and Google Colab. We will highlight the concept of empirical probability, or the relative frequency of a particular observed event, which is also used in machine learning methods.

Business intelligence – how data helps us make decisions

This workshop focuses on how data helps us identify next steps and optimize our processes. We will explore what types of data are most valuable to us and how to analyse them effectively to maximize their value for our decision-making.

How a computer sees us: A cat guide through computer vision

Have you ever wondered how a cat sees the world – and how a computer “sees” that? Come to our workshop, where we will combine interesting facts from the animal world with modern technology. You will learn what lies behind a computer’s ability to recognize a picture of a cat (and not confuse it with a pillow) thanks to something called a convolutional neural network (CNN). You can expect a simple explanation, lots of examples, and maybe even a few (feline) surprises. If you are interested in the world of technology or just want to know how “computer sight” works, this workshop is for you!

Decisions don’t grow on trees … or do they?

Yes, no, what next? In this workshop, we will look at how decision trees help make systematic decisions in various industries. We will explain the basic principles and create one tree together.

FAQ

Why is DataDay 6 held on Saturday?

The event is intended for all high school students who like thinking and discover new things, not only during the school week. The workshops will be led by great people from the university and companies in Košice.

What should I bring with myself?

Bring good mood with yourself. If you like working on your laptop, bring it along. However, it is not necessary – computers will be available in computer rooms where the workshops will be held.
