DataDay 4

High school students, attention please! Can you program? Do you enjoy working with data like pictures, graphs, election polls? Do you like problem-solving or just want to understand how artificial intelligence works? We have the fourth DataDay in a row where you can , where you can experience it all.

You can expect interesting workshops, a lecture on the latest trends in data science modelling, interactive creation of inteligent systems, quiz, pizza, new people and much more. You can experience all this on February 17, 2024, so don’t miss it! We will be adding some more information if necessary. So keep an eye on this page and our Facebook. You can download the event poster here.

You are also welcome to attend an event called Math Open Day, which will be at the same place and time as DataDay.

WHEN AND WHERE?

PROGRAM

LECTURE

What’s under the hood of ChatGPT?

Do you want to know how today’s AI models process natural language? How does the training of such model look like? How does a model learn to use tools like a calculator or how it can surf on the internet? Does the model also learn from me when I text with it? If you’re interested in these answers, this lecture is for you!

WORKSHOPS

Am I too often on the social media?

What does the data say about posting on Facebook? That’s what we’ll look at in this workshop, where we’ll try to analyze the data using Python and Google Colab. We will highlight the concept of empirical probability, or the relative frequency of some event under study, which is also used in machine learning methods.

Taming wild threads

Do you want to have your apartment renovated in a month, but the master can do it in 6? Simple solution, call 6 masters. Is your program running slowly? Divide its work between multiple threads running in parallel. At the workshop, you will try out how to run multiple functions at the same time, what problems arise, and how to solve them.

To approve or not to approve a loan?

At this workshop, you will experience what it’s like to be in the shoes of a bank officer and decide who to grant a loan to. You will try to build a statistical model based on different client data to help you decide.

FAQ

Why is DataDay 4 on a Saturday?

The event is intended for all high school students who like to think and discover new things, not only during the school week. The workshops will be led by great people from the university and from Košice companies.

What should I bring?

Above all, bring a good mood. If you like to work on your laptop, bring that too. However, it is not necessary – if you do not have a laptop, the workshops will be in the computer rooms, where you will have a computer at your disposal.
