DataDay 5

You can see photos from DataDay 5 here.

Attention highschoolers! Can you code? Do you like data like pictures, graphs, election polls, and work with them? Do you like problem-solving or you just want to know, how to use artificial intelligence? We have the fifth DataDay in a row, where you can experience all of this.

You can look forward to interesting workshops, a lecture on the latest trends in data science, data modelling, interactive creation of intelligent systems, a quiz, pizza, new people, and much more. You can experience all this on February 15, 2025, so don’t miss out! We will be adding more information as it becomes available. You can download the event poster here. So keep an eye on this page and our facebook.

WHEN AND WHERE?

PROGRAMME

LECTURE

Genetic algorithms in steel production.

We will show how natural phenomena can be applied in information systems. As an example, we will present their use in a steel mill.

WORKSHOPY

How does a chatbot understand us?

Peraps everyone is using Chatbots and know how they work. But who knows how chatbots understand us? At our workshop, you will try to convert text from human speech into numbers that chatbots can understand.

Approve or disapprove a loan?

At the workshop, you will experience what it is like to be in the shoes of a bank and decide who to grant a loan to. Based on various client data, you will try to build a statistical model that will help you make decisions.

Business intelligence – how data helps us make decisions

This workshop focuses on how data helps us identify next steps and optimize our processes. We will explore what types of data are most valuable to us and how to analyse them effectively to maximize their value for our decision-making.

Train your own neural network

What is a neural network? Did you know that it can even be trained based on your instructions? In this workshop, you will try to train a computer to recognize various objects, sounds, or gestures. And all this without programming.

Am I spending too much time on social media?

What does the data say about our activity on social networks? We will look at this in this workshop, where we will try to analyze the data using Python and Google Colab. We will highlight the concept of empirical probability, or the relative frequency of a particular observed event, which is also used in machine learning methods.

FAQ

Why is DataDay 5 organised on Saturday?

The event is intended for all high school students who like thinking and discovering new things, not only during the school week. The workshops will be led by great people from the university and companies in Košice.

What should I bring with me?

First of all, bring your good mood. If you like working on your laptop, bring it as well. However, it is not necessary – if you don’t have one, the workshops will be held in computer rooms where computers will be available.
