DAM: How to build a startup as a student

The Faculty of Science at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice hosted a workshop titled “How to Build a Startup as a Student” in collaboration with the Data Analytics Meetings team. Members of the OWASmooth startup were introduced:

• RNDr. Barbora Hennelová, PhD. (CEO & founder, mathematician, data aggregation expert),
• RNDr. Miroslav Hennel (CEO & founder, physicist with several years of experience in sensor R&D),
• Lukáš Kollárovič (CTO, full-stack developer, student of Computer Science informatiky at UPJŠ),
• Filip Deák (CTIO, back-end developer, he develops algorithms for data smoothing, student of a joint stduy programme mathematics-computer science at UPJŠ).

At the workshop, they shared their experiences with building a startup while still in school—from the initial idea to a fully operational company. They discussed the challenges, successes, and failures they faced, their participation in startup competitions, as well as the practical aspects of working with sensors and data processing.

The event also included a discussion in which participants actively engaged and had the opportunity to ask questions directly to team members or anonymously via Slido.
