An idea that brings together math, technology, and space!

A team of undergraduate and graduate students from the Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics – Economic and Mathematical Modeling programs at the Institute of Mathematics and the Institute of Informatics, Faculty of Science, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, participated in the European CASSINI Hackathon Slovakia, where they won an outstanding 2nd place. The CASSINI Hackathon is a pan-European event organised by the European Commission that brings together innovators, programmers, and students from across the enitre continent. The goal is to use satellite and space data to solve real-world problems on Earth. Participants work with data from the European Union’s Earth observation programme named Copernicus, which provides up-to-date information on the state of our planet. Our students presented the OnlyFiit app – a tool that helps athletes find suitable outdoor sports venues. The app uses satellite data to display current conditions such as temperature, air quality, noise levels, and the estimated number of people at a given location. The project promotes a healthy lifestyle and demonstrates that space technologies have practical applications in everyday life. Congratulations on your excellent placement and on the idea that combines math, technology, and space! Viac o DAM-e nájdete tu
