DataDay 5
The DataDay event brought a lot of interesting lectures, discussions and networking opportunities. More than 50 participants gathered to immerse themselves in the world of data and modern technologies at Jesenná 5 in Košice on 15 February 2025.
The keynote talk was given by Alexander Till, who explained how advanced computational methods are applied in industrial practice in his lecture “Genetic Algorithms in Steelmaking”. Participants learned how algorithms can contribute to more efficient steelmaking.

After the introductory lecture, it was the turn of the practical part. The workshops were led by students of our university as well as experts from partner companies. The offered workshops were:
- How does chatbout understand us?
- To approve or not to approve a loan?
- Business Intelligence – how data helps us make decisions
- Train your own neural network
- Am I too often on the social sites?

Once participants had attended two of the selected workshops, they could take part in a creative challenge of Vissim. Their task was to connect the turbines on the board using as little string as possible.
Shortly afterwards, everyone moved to the refreshment area where they enjoyed pizza and refreshed themselves with drinks. After a short rest, they started the quiz, where they competed in guessing the correct answers. The most successful ones won valuable prizes from our partners.
DataDay once again brought together a community of data enthusiasts and offered a day full of inspiration. Hadn’t you been there, be sure not to miss next year’s edition!
