This is a historic milestone in the construction of the national quantum communication infrastructure and also the <strong>first fully functional element of the Slovak network<\/strong>, which is part of the pan-European <strong>EuroQCI<\/strong> project.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 25px\"><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Slovakia is thus joining the countries actively developing <strong>second-generation quantum technologies<\/strong> \u2013 technologies that will enable not only secure communication but also the transfer of quantum information between quantum computers in the future. The Slovak quantum network is being created as a part of the national project <strong>skQCI<\/strong>, which is a part of the European initiative <strong>EuroQCI<\/strong> (European Quantum Communication Infrastructure). A broad platform of partners who have signed the <strong>Memorandum on Support for the Development of Quantum Communication Infrastructure in Slovakia<\/strong> is also contributing to the development of quantum infrastructure. The signatories <strong>include universities, research institutions, public authorities, and technology partners<\/strong>. The memorandum creates a framework for a coordinated action in the introduction of quantum technologies, the interconnection of public institutions via secure quantum links, and the sharing of know-how across the sector. The ceremonial opening of the first link between Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik University in Ko\u0161ice and the University of Pre\u0161ov in Pre\u0161ov is a concrete result of this joint initiative.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 40px\"><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis: 65%\">\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\r\n\u201eAmong other things, this quantum line provides an excellent opportunity for our faculty and university to enrich teaching with practical demonstrations and conduct a new type of research in the fields of quantum computing and cyber security. This new stimulus has reinforced the faculty&#8217;s intention to create a new study program focused on quantum technologies.\u201c\r\n<cite>\r\nprof. During the demonstration, a group of students from the Secondary Industrial School of Electrical Engineering in Pre\u0161ov connected with nearly 200 students present in the UPJ\u0160 auditorium in Ko\u0161ice as part of the Focus on Nobel Prizes event, organized annually by the Faculty of Science of Pavol Joze\u0161 \u0160af\u00e1rik University in Ko\u0161ice.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ics.science.upjs.sk\/adui\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/03\/quant2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 40px\"><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Attending guests<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n \t<li><strong>The Office of the President of the Slovak Republic\r\n<\/strong> \u2013 Mgr.
