The Institute of Mathematics<\/strong> (\u00daMAT) and the Institute of Informatics<\/strong> (\u00daINF) with the support of IT Valley Ko\u0161ice<\/strong> once again organized the third DataDay<\/strong> in a row, which took place on March 18, 2023<\/strong>. It is an event for data enthusiasts who want to enrich their knowledge with new information and gain new experience. On this day, a large number of high school and university students visited the UPJ\u0160 Faculty of Science<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The DataDay started with an introductory lecture<\/strong> by keyspeaker Stanislav Hriv\u0148ak<\/strong>, a graduate of PF UPJ\u0160. Stano, as someone who has many years of experience with data and artificial intelligence, shared with the participants his know-how on how to look for opportunities for employment in today’s world. After the introductory lecture, participants could take part in 5 workshops<\/strong> where they could try working with data themselves:<\/p>\r\n

    \r\n
  • The workshop „On the tracks of dinosaurs with a Greek bandit“<\/strong> showed the participants how mathematics with informatics helps biologists uncover the mysteries of dinosaur evolution and how to use these methods in other applications in everyday life.<\/li>\r\n
  • At „Neural Networks Interactive“<\/strong>, participants taught a neural network to recognize objects and understood how a neural network can determine what is on the picture.<\/li>\r\n
  • „Digital Forensics from a Data Analyst’s Point of View“<\/strong> explained to everyone the work of a forensic analyst whose task is to find out the cause of a cyber security incident in the Windows operating system.<\/li>\r\n
  • Physicists were fascinated by the topic „Analysis of data at the Large Hadron Collider“<\/strong>, which was devoted to the smallest elements such as quarks and gluons, the investigation of which requires the analysis of a large amount of data and hundreds of thousands of computers.<\/li>\r\n
  • The role of empirical probability in machine learning was discussed at the workshop „Understanding the role of empirical probability in data science“<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n

    In addition to workshops, accompanying activities were also prepared for the participants, among which there was no shortage of flying a drone around obstacles<\/strong>, or a quiz<\/strong> with the opportunity to win interesting prizes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
